FAQ - Battery life and usage

Jan 3, 2022

Battery life expectations:

  • Arlo wire-free camera batteries last approximately 3–6 months with average use.
  • Arlo Go camera batteries last approximately 2–3 months with average use, depending on mobile signal strength.
  • Arlo Q, Q Plus, and Baby cameras do not use batteries.

Average use assumes that you are using Optimized or Best Battery Life video settings and that your cameras record for approximately five minutes per day.

Increasing the length or quantity of video recordings in your camera's modes and rules decreases your battery life.

The following environmental factors also reduce battery life:

  • Temperatures below 32°F (0°C)
  • Low-light environments that require infrared sensors to work harder
  • Low LTE signal strength (Arlo Go only)
  • Weak connection to the base station caused by distance, WiFi interference, or solid obstructions between camera and base station (Arlo Pro and Arlo Wire-Free cameras only)

What are average battery life and data usage for an Arlo Go camera?

  • Average battery life for an Arlo Go camera is more than one month (depending on mobile signal strength), and average data usage is 850 MB (0.85 GB) per month.
  • Average use assumes that you are using Optimized or Best Battery Life video settings and that your cameras record for approximately five minutes per day.
  • Increasing the length or quantity of video recordings in your camera's modes and rules increases your data usage and decreases your battery life. Using a higher-quality video setting also increases data usage.
